PLAY BALL !!

It started with a vision. The vision of a man who thought he was dying only 3 short months ago. That same vision has allowed Elmwood's finest athletes show their stuff on the diamond. Turns out, the dying part was only stress and hot wings.

Let's be serious though, it started out as drunken promises and caviar dreams. Since that crazy night in February, the dream has now come to reality. It used to be the only sponsors for the Elkhorns were Notaries of the Public to allow them weekend leave, or counselors from AFM.

Not any more. With financial backing and support from an Elmwood promoter, the Elks are prancing around the bases faster than a horny buck chasing a doe in the spring!

On that note, Elmwood's finest men have also scouted some of Winnipeg's classiest women which are contributing not only in beauty but are truly showing athletic prowess.

In this inaugural season the Elmwood Elkhorns are currently 2-1.

The remaining May schedule below. (This is for a certain gal, she knows who she is)

May 27 @ 6:15 pm @ Little Mountain Sportsplex
May 28 @ 7:45 pm @ East Elmwood West Diamond (Rained out)
May 30 @ 6:20 pm @ East Elmwood East Diamond
June 3 (make up game for May 28th). Game time and place TBD.

Rush seats only. Family passes available at Mac's Stores.

The Elkhorns made history on May 14th, 2007. Not only did they enjoy the taste of victory with
a 11-2 drowsing of "The Tribe", but they also tasted alchohol and ran up a significant bill at
"ye old watering hole".

The Elks came out slammin' on Monday night. Pete and Mark were sporting nice new shiney
cleats. Mark played short stop and his got a l'il dusty, but Pete's are still as shiney as
new. Pete's buffed his up and put them right back in the liquor bag he brought them in!

Craig had to remove his jewellery part way through and it actually unleashed him, let's leave
it at that.

Dan pitched spectacular once again, whilst Barb and Chris sufferred injuries that took them
both out of the game. Let's hope for a quick recovery as they are needed for the next game.

Craig ran the bases hard until he over ran 3rd and got tagged out, clearly the 3rd base coach
missed the call.

Again, the Elkhorns fielders were somewhat awol on the fly balls except newcomer Rob, who
showed poise and balance that Pete and Ron marvelled at. Surely the boys learned something
about athleticism on this night. Now all they have to do is put it into practice.

Good to see Carol out, she back stopped every throw.

League Commissioner Bobby Jay offerred his congratulations to the Elkhorns for their first
franchise victory. "It's nice to see the Elkhorns play like they are capable of", said Bobby
Jay in a post game interview.

Maura and Mark were players of the game (first Elkhorn couple to be nominated). Mind you Ron
and Pete were chosen once prior and that warrants as a couple...a couple of piss tanks!

The Elks take on "Ump yours" on Wednesday night in St Boniface. Tickets available at Select-A-
Seat. You can also win tickets by listenning to Tom and Joe in the morning on 92 CITI FM,
Winnipeg's Classic Rock!

I have umpired many a game, but Wednesday Night was a classic..........first it was Kirk Gibson, then Joe Carter, and now.....................Bad News Billy Beauj, who came to the plate with two out, score tied, and the winning run on third.

Beauj, know for his Babe Ruth like power, and Dr. Ruth like speed, ripped a double driving in the winning run to complete the comeback for an exciting 12-11 come from behind victory.....ELKHORNS WIN! ELKHORNS WIN!

Despite having only nine players (one automatic out) & playing with a good eleven year-old; we still won! By the way Rick, get used to wearing the suit; 2 - 0 without you.
