We are the (B-Side) Champions

The vision came to reality. The Herd won the B-side championship by defeating the only team that beat them in the playoffs. The championship team is pictured, unfortunately Kris and Dan were unable to make the photo shoot.

Some say B-side is not a Championship. The Summer GM begs to differ.

"Remember, this is a start up franchise. All the players worked very hard this year to attain respect out there. I'd say a 20-8-1 season deserves recognition!" yiped a proud Summer GM.

"This what the book (Built to Win) is all about, it's about building a winning franchise. You don't build a house without a solid foundation, I have never seen a foundation as solid as this one!" "This season was very special, and I am very proud of the guys and gals, they really brought it together!" commended the Summer GM. "The score card showing the 9-6 victory is shown above."

" RESULTS NOT EXCUSES, it summed it up pretty darn well!" added Hugh Glove. "You saw results out there, no one made excuses. "For me it is just another successful season, I am just glad to be a part of this organization."

Noted was the Summer GM's lobbying for new talent for next year as he was seen buying "Presto" the magnificent a few beers and attempted to lure Kelly with Elkhorn paraphernalia and the promise of a date with Casual Observer. Not sure which one is helping. "Owners and GM's of clubs don't sleep, we are always looking for talent that the team can gel with. Kelly and Presto just might have an opportunity to get past the spare board, and yes, they both met the league requirements for the August finale" indicated the Summer GM, "make no mistake, I might make errors on the field, but not in the team office!"

Here are the Elkhorn awards for 2007!

A 71% winning percentage, be proud Elkhorns, be proud.

I also no, that some time, between now and the end of 2007 you will say to someone, "Results not Excuses".

It works we proved it.

Nope,,, take a look,,,Rob is the first one on the awards list...just like he is our #1 shortstop!

Again, I may make mistakes on the field, but never from the team office.

There is a reason why I have disclosed "the books". Firstly I believe in complete open book concept, but more importantly, I have accepted a consultive offer with "Next" of the Elite division. Apparently the final was a little too close for comfort for the team and they naturally went to the guy that could help them win a Canadian Championship.

With the lobbying for new players like I did I feel I have "readied" the team to move to the next level, they are now "Built to Win".

After the winter, I will review the team needs and determine if my tenure is over or if I should continue on as Elmwood's winning est Manager.

I truly enjoyed taking the team to the next level, I do not see any mountain they cannot climb!

As this is my first "Elmwood" team experience I have to share that it was a year of great times, incredible memories! I take with me great lessons from our Summer GM. Hopefully I can apply them to the professional world and to my parenting. After seeing this group come out with a winning record, I know I can do anything now. NASA, here I come!
Respectfully, First Base

I've stood the controversy all year long and now that the season is over and my comments can't distract the Summer GM from doing the job he needed to do. I feel it is time for me to speak out!

I can't beleive that in this day and age a team as proud as the Elkhorns would continue to taunt, ridicule and yes, embarass such a fine gentlemen and excellent manager as the Summer GM.

For years now the Summer GM and I have a very (yes VERY) close relationship. In fact, some would say he felt at home when he was with me, even more so than he was at his house. Just because (after all of these years) he got married and all, doesn't mean he can't come by and "touch" me every now and then...and when he does, how do his friend react?

Well let's just say that I for one have a great admiraton for Summer GM and he can touch me any time he wants!

Fall Ball time is here...

Who is up? let the Summer GM know ASAP!

First of all; I am in for fall ball!

Built to win, "B" ?
Good job Summer GM;I guess?

Most of the people from Elmwood (80% from the right side of the tracks) were never afraid to win; but they were always afraid to lose.
"B" side "Champs" was, for the most part a loss.
Anyway; this one time we will take it as a win.

We will see some of you back in December where the GM pushes for an "A" final & as you know that our only goal.
Having said all of that; thank you Summer GM, it was still a good summer.
