Results! Not Excuses!

Results! Not excuses! That was the Elkhorn mantra this weekend. However, the Winter GM had a few issues as you can see by the picture below.

In the first Elkhorn Softball tournament in franchise history, the mantra led to very definitive victories. As many players indicated, we mercied them, AGAIN!

Whether it was the Summer GM sacrificing his body to make a play, (or attempting to), and displaying a "NEVER QUIT" attitiude, or Venom and Spidey hitting homers, it was all about RESULTS!

Spectactular fielding by the entire team and stellar pitching was the order of the day. Realize though, when you have a team full of gifted sluggers, it is much like the Oilers of the 80's where they just scored over and over and ran the other teams down. This is how a dynasty is started.

Special thanks to our spares, (well they just may end up "ousting" a few of our absentees).

Lots of eye candy at the old complex as Pete wore a tank top for a great part of the weekend. Too many boobs to count, mind you I did try and ended up with an "odd" number,,, go figure.

There were sightings, fightings, bitings, covered ass, naked ass, cleavage (not just the gals!), you name it, it was all there. The best part was the apres' ball events where the team retreated for a number of "liver workouts" before heading home for the night. And you know the workouts are always longer than the recommended time! Hic!

I think I even saw the guy from Little people, Big world in the ring!!

The herd migrates back east on Wednesday night and missed mating season, so you know they will be a bit on the randy side. Action starts at 6:20 pm at the legion on the perimeter....hunting season is now open as everyone is "gunning for the Elkhorns!"

First it was Hockey, then it was Spongee & now a 3 - 0 Sunday makes the Elmwood squad Champs in another sport.

The Summer GM is correct about a few "issues" as seen by the picture on the opening page. That person was one of many that tried to take on one of the "Elks" in post game activities & failed to get up for a few hours as witnessed by the innocent by-standers seen on said picture. Thanks to the Comish for not handing out suspensions for any post-game altercations.

At first I though that the guy lying next to the tent was Pete, but only or a second and here's why:

a) Pete never passes out
b) there are only 38 empty bottles next to him. He would by just starting a buzz at this point. And,
c) the beer is American

If you can't make please let us know!!!! One 10 second phone call or email may have cost us a game. The auto-matic out cost us dearly tonight as we had base runners on every ocassion when the auto-matic out came into play. An embarrising loss to FAQ tonight after two mercy victories over the same team this weekend is unacceptable! I hope the Summer GM had the correct info on who would be there as we have a 24 man/woman roster & could have easily gotten another player.

Speaking of the Summer GM where was he after the game???? Smitty's was astonished that only three Elkhorns showed up after the game after not being there for almost three weeks. Remember the are our only sponsor, EVERYONE should try & show up ocasionally!!! Some players have not shown up yet this season; Smitty's supports the Elks; we should support Smitty's!

It appears that the Elkhorn GM has had to assert himself again (and it would appear rightfully so...) The relationship between the Elkhorn GM and the Summer GM smacks of Steinbrenner-Martin. (In all fairness to Billy, the Summer GM does show a remarkable similarity OFF the playing field).

Sadly, if the Summer GM can't effectively manage his players, the Elkhorn GM will probably be forced to handout some harsh/outlandish comments/criticisms as a means to inspire the leader of summer. As you are probably aware, sewage flows downhill, and will not escape the rank and file.

Whether you prefer Steinbrenner or Ballard, if the Summer GM doesn't sharpen up, he may end up as a mere puppet on a string.

Results, not excuses!

Apparantly without the Summer GM near, the team falls apart and dissention sits in.

Clearly his leadership was missing while he thought he handed the ranks over for one night.

With all the finger pointing, remember, when you point a finger, you have 3 others pointing back at you!

We see lots of excuses,,,,.. remember the mantra.

You mean to say that we can't beat FAQ with one player short? And all this talk about mercy rules and the like....seems like the excuses are coming out. Please try to be winners and not LOSERS!

I am not sure what happenned on Wednesday....

Obviously not only do I have significant errors on the field, but I have errors with administration.

I truly thought we had enough people to play on Wednesday. My bad, sorry.

At this point I believe we have enuff for this week, only 1 decline thus far.

That's ok Summer GM, we all make mistakes....I know how you feel.

Happy fathers day to all.

For some of us it is very confusing. Especially after spending time up north and getting all sorts of fathers day wishes from kids we never knew we had!

Rick H. is under-utilized batting in the number 10 spot. He is one of the best contact hitters in the game today and should be hitting in the one through three position. Plus he has "gazelle-like" speed.

Mr Staub,

I seem to remember you playing 1st base, fielder, or stuck as a designated hitter.

I don't remember you ever as a GM.

Management decisions are for managers to make. You are merely a fan now that played the game. A pension claiming fan at that.

The game has changed Mr Staub, and the Gazelle like speed yo speak of, is merely just a glimmer of what others have.

Agreed that Rick is one of the best contact hitters in the Co-ed game today, however , running a female back catcher is not the type of hitting we are looking for.

Rick will be played where management sees fit, and we will not be swayed by unruly fans who need to have their way.

By the way Rick, your batting second today!

Results! Not Excuses!

Do we acually have to go over this again????
If you can't make please let us know!!!! One 10 second phone call or email could have cost us a game. We have a 24 man/woman roster! Fortunately an Elmwood never has lost a game to any "Tribe" & that was the case again no thanks to the below mentioned people. One player had to be called in Alberta, another at home 3 hours before game time & yet another was sitting at home "chucking it in to his new green socks" and actually had to be called at home 5 minutes into the game to show up!

Maybe the Summer GM is taking some heat when not warranted, (on the field it is still warranted).

Rick started & finished the game as an automatic out. He found every possible way to do it. Not being there, grounding out, jewelery out & flying out. He almost cost us a run as a third base coach with his "hold-up" call on a sure home run but fortunately Barb knocked in that run. The only player that never showed up to Smitty's?? Rick! On the plus side his green socks did look good although there was a little White fluid on them.
Good game by everyone else in a 22 to 8 victory.
